A Note from the Founder
When I started The Callisto in June 2026, the idea was simple. Students in India read, argue and care about politics every day, yet very little of that energy becomes work that a policymaker, a journalist or a citizen can actually use. Opinions are everywhere. Evidence that leads somewhere is rare.
The Callisto exists to close that gap. We are a student-led think tank working across four verticals: Political Consultancy, Public Policy, International Relations and Journalism. Each asks a different question about public life. Together they let us study a problem from the ground, the desk, the region and the newsroom at once.
Two commitments guide everything we publish. The first is Pragmatic Neutrality. We do not take sides between parties or ideologies. We take the side of evidence, and we name failures precisely without assigning them to a camp. The second is a rule we call the Two Gates. No claim leaves our desk without a cited source, and no problem is described without a workable solution. Criticism that stops at complaint is not our work.
That is what our tagline means. Turning data into decisions is a promise that our research should be useful to whoever has to act on it, whether that is a ministry, a municipal office, a university administration or a voter.
We are young, and we say so openly. Being students is not a limitation we apologise for. It is where we stand. We live with the rents, the unlit roads and the policy gaps we write about, and we have the persistence to follow an issue until someone answers for it.
If you read our work, question it. If you find it useful, use it. And if you want to build it with us, our door is open.
